Liz is a recent Graduate of the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where she earned her postgraduate degree. Liz graduated from the University of Arizona, majoring in Comparative Psychology and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. She is a three-time winner at ISEF and was a SARSEF participant for 10 years and now serves as a judge. She is an active volunteer with the Jane Goodall Foundation, SciEnTeK-12 Foundation and SARSEF. She is the only student to have won 5 consecutive ISEF trips. Her most recent work has been with the Gorilla Foundation, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

Brian is a graduate of the
University of Arizona with a degree in Geosciences (1977), though upon
graduation followed his other passion for computers and began work for IBM in
Poughkeepsie, New York. He went on to become an Advisory Programmer, working on
mainframe and UNIX software. Before long he managed to transfer to IBM in
Tucson and there was contacted by SARSEF when a request for judges went out for
the ISEF held at the TCC in 1996. Since then he has been judging on a yearly
basis and has greatly enjoyed encouraging the students at SARSEF. Since
retiring from IBM after 32 years, he has become a member of the SciEnTek-12
Board of Directors and SARSEF Chief Judge. In his retirement he looks forward
to expanding his support of generations of new young scientists and engineers. .e

Dr. Bethel is the Director of SARSEF and Chief Executive Officer for the SciEnTeK-12 Foundation. She serves on the International Science Advisory Board for the Society for Science and the Public. She was hired by the University of Arizona's College of Engineering to spread the message of the importance of student involvement in research in the fields of science and engineering. She is also consultant for school improvement for school districts around the country. Dr. Bethel was the Principal of Los Ranchitos Elementary School, Sunnyside Unified School District, for 23 years and recently retired after 30 years in the field. She has a doctorate in education administration, brings years of experience at the elementary and middle school level, and is an advocate of science education.

Tucson. She is one of
a few women in the world with a Certified Broadcast Meteorology accreditation
from the American Meteorological Society. Erin holds an Arizona Associated

Doug is President of AuroraPath Advisors, providing management consulting to startup and growth companies. Doug’s enthusiasm for science fairs began winning the West Virginia and Regional Science Fairs. He won 2nd place at the 1972 ISEF, receiving awards from NASA, Navy, American Petroleum Institute, and a Smithsonian fellowship. He received an S.B. in Physics from MIT and began his career as a materials physicist for Hercules. He joined GE's Plastic business in 1977, spending 25 years in various executive positions in Product Marketing and General Management. He started GE’s Durable goods recycling business, and chaired National Automotive and Electronic industry recycle efforts. He started a new technology based company with GE and Bayer for light weight, life-saving polycarbonate automotive windows as President of Exatec, LLC. After 25 years in the materials industry, he spend 10 years in Optics based Medical Device, Semi and Display industries with Optical Research Associates as Vice President, Business Development, and Zygo as General Manager of Electro-Optics. |

Dr. Goldberg is an Arizona & California licensed psychologist, board certified rehabilitation
psychologist, American Psychological Association Fellow, and member of the
State Bar of Arizona. He Chaired
the Arizona Psychological Association’s Health Psychology and Disability Issues
Committee from inception in 2003 through 2010. With expertise in social justice, advocacy, psychology, and
law, Dr. Goldberg has made contributions in the fields of both psychology and
law. He maintains a private
practice concentrating on forensic psychology issues, and he adjudicates Social
Security disability cases in Arizona.
During leisure time, he enjoys travel, hiking, films, friends, and
spending time with the 24 year old parrot he raised from birth. To keep nimble on the adversarial side
of things, he plays competitive SCRABBLE and is a prize winning tournament bowler.

Andrea has thirty years of experience in
teaching and curricula development at the K-12, college, technical school,
professional, and general public level. Her major was physical education with
an emphasis in sports medicine, and she holds a B.S. and K-12 teaching
certification from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as a M.S. from
Indiana University. Her expertise was in the biomechanics of the lower
extremities and treatment of knee, ankle, and foot injuries. She was a physical
therapy clinic director of sports medicine, and a program director at physical
therapy and sports medicine clinics in Wisconsin and California. Following clinic
and formal teaching retirement,
Andrea home-schooled her two sons for thirteen years. Andrea is also a
published writer with a background in journalism, writing, public speaking,
drama, dance, and singing. She has been involved with SARSEF competition since
2000 where she and her husband have mentored their two sons to several First
Place and Grand Award finishes. Both boys have been ISEF Finalists. Andrea is
also on the Institutional Biosafety Committee at the University of Arizona.

Frankie Orozco. A freshman at the University of Arizona and a recent winner at both SARSEF
and ISEF. After winning the grand award at the Southern Arizona Regional
Science and Engineering Fair and being recognized with numerous special awards
at local, regional, and state levels, Frankie went on to a third-place grand
award at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, CA, and
a gold medal at the International Sustainable World (Engineering, Energy, &
Environment) Project Olympiad in Houston, TX. In June, 2011 he was named one of
four statewide 'Young Innovators of the Year.'
