Selecting Students for SARSEF

Each school should have their own science fair where outside judges come in and "judge" the projects.  Many schools use a judging criteria similar to the one used by SARSEF judges.  This is entirely up to each school and school fair director.  The judging criteria on this web-site can be modified to fit individual school needs, but it gives teachers and students an idea as to what the SARSEF judges will be using for criteria.

In most cases, the judging results are turned in to the Fair Director for final placements. The Fair Director, Chief judge, or school official, should then determine the 10 projects that will go on to compete at SARSEF.  The algorithm used to determine the make-up of the final 10 is up to each school.  This should be determined as soon as possible, so the student information can be gathered and the SARSEF registration  deadline met.  For Registration Worksheet Click Here.

SARSEF encourages schools to try to give an even distribution among grades.  However, it is strictly a school decision. Because the number of students allowed to participate is based on the Grades in the school (e.g. K-5th Grade is allowed 10 projects), please check on the number allowed per school, Click Here.  Contact the SARSEF Director if you have any questions.
